The brief
A European-style café and wine bar in the heart of Red Lodge, Montana, a historic old western town. Working alongside the gourmet specialty shop next door, Babcock & Miles serves delicious coffee and local pastries in the morning and sandwiches at lunch, then transforms into a wine bar at night, with charcuterie boards, paired wines and cheeses, small bites and live music.
All of that happens within a very small footprint, so the interior had to work hard for every part of the day — bright and welcoming in the morning, warm and intimate after dark — while keeping the character of Red Lodge and giving it modern touches. The result is a gathering place that feels both timeless and fresh.
